According to the Attorney General of Massachusetts, the Vista Higher Learning data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On July 23, 2024, the company detected suspicious activity within its IT network. An investigation was launched that confirmed that on July 10, 2024, an unauthorized party exploited a vulnerability and accessed part of VHL’s network. It was also determined that some of the files that were accessible to the unauthorized party contained consumer information. Vista Higher Learning reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. On September 6, 2024, Vista Higher Learning sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
