February 25 – The Via Credit Union data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Via Credit Union data breach resulted in the exposure of names, Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and financial account information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 60,853 individuals.

What Happened As A Result Of The Via Credit Union Data Breach?

According to the Maine Attorney General’s office, Via Credit Union reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The financial institution detected suspicious activity within their computer network and took action by notifying law enforcement, securing their systems, and engaging cybersecurity specialists to investigate the incident.

The investigation revealed that unauthorized parties accessed parts of Via Credit Union’s IT network during a three-day period between January 18, 2025, and January 20, 2025. During this time, the attackers managed to acquire certain files containing sensitive member information.

On February 24, 2025, Via Credit Union sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach. These notification letters should provide recipients with specific details about what personal information of theirs was compromised in the incident.
