February 14 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the Veolia data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Veolia data breach resulted in the below information of certain individuals being compromised:

  • name,
  • Social Security number,
  • financial information or payment card number,
  • date of birth,
  • government identification,
  • and driver’s license number

What Happened?

According to the Attorney General of Montana, the Veolia data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On January 9, 2024, the company detected suspicious activity within its computer network prompting them to secure their systems and launch an investigation. It was confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to gain access to the company’s IT network through a ransomware attack targeting “multiple back-end systems.” Certain files stored on Veolia’s network were accessed or acquired by the unauthorized party, including those that contained confidential consumer information. On February 9, 2024, Veolia sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
