University of Massachusetts Amherst Data Breach Investigation

February 20 – The University of Massachusetts Amherst  (“UMass Amherst”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the institution was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. According to the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office filing, University of Massachusetts Amherst reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack.

The investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party gained access to the university’s computer network on August 24, 2024. During this incident, the unauthorized party accessed files containing confidential information of various individuals associated with the university.

On February 7, 2025, University of Massachusetts Amherst sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach. The university is providing affected individuals with 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services to help mitigate potential risks associated with the exposure of sensitive personal information.
