December 16 – The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (collectively, “Texas Tech Health Sciences Centers,” or “the HSCs”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Centers data breach resulted in the exposure of highly sensitive personal and medical information, including names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information, health insurance information, and medical information of as many as 815,000 individuals being compromised.
According to the website notice posted by the HSCs, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Centers reported a data breach after they detected disruptions in their computer systems in September 2024. The cybersecurity incident allowed unauthorized access to their network between September 17, 2024, and September 29, 2024. Upon discovery, the HSCs immediately secured the systems and initiated an investigation into the scope of the breach.
The HSCs are currently in the process of sending out data breach letters to all individuals whose information was affected by this security incident. These notifications will detail the specific types of personal information that may have been compromised for each individual.
