Somnia Data Breach Investigation

February 27 – The Somnia data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Somnia data breach resulted in the exposure of names, Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, health information, and health insurance information of certain individuals being compromised.

What Happened As A Result Of The Somnia Data Breach?

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights filing, Somnia reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack that compromised their email system.

The incident first came to light on November 21, 2024, when Somnia Anesthesia detected unusual activity within its email infrastructure. Upon discovery, the healthcare management company implemented security measures to secure all email accounts potentially affected by the breach. Simultaneously, Somnia engaged a specialized team of cybersecurity experts to conduct a thorough investigation into the scope and nature of the unauthorized access.

By December 10, 2024, the investigation confirmed that multiple email accounts had been compromised, and these accounts contained sensitive confidential information belonging to various individuals. Following this confirmation, Somnia Anesthesia initiated a comprehensive review of all affected accounts to determine exactly what information had been exposed and identify which individuals were impacted.

While this investigation remains ongoing, Somnia has already identified that the compromised information may include names, Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, health information, and health insurance information of affected individuals.

On February 14, 2025, Somnia sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach. These notifications provide recipients with specific details about what personal information of theirs may have been compromised.
