The total number of affected individuals has not yet been publicly disclosed.

What Happened As A Result Of The Salus Group Data Breach?

According to the Texas Attorney General’s office, Salus Group reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack involving unauthorized email account access. The incident timeline reveals that in October 2024, the company detected unusual activity within an employee’s email account.

Upon discovery of the suspicious activity, Salus Group took action by disabling the compromised account, resetting the password, and initiating a comprehensive investigation with assistance from specialized cybersecurity professionals. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party had accessed the employee’s email account specifically on October 9, 2024.

While investigators could not conclusively identify which specific emails or attachments were viewed by the unauthorized party, they confirmed that the compromised account contained sensitive personal information of various individuals. This email account breach potentially exposed highly confidential data including personal identifiers and protected health information.

On April 8, 2025, Salus Group sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach. These notification letters contain details about the specific categories of personal information that may have been compromised for each recipient.
