The Radiologic Medical Services data breach resulted in unauthorized access to confidential patient information stored in employee email accounts. While the specific types of compromised data have not been publicly disclosed, individual notification letters sent to as many as 56,902 patients detail their personal information that was exposed.

What Happened As A Result Of The Radiologic Medical Services Data Breach?

According to the notice filed with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, Radiologic Medical Services reported a data breach after discovering suspicious activity in an employee email account. The investigation revealed that two employee email accounts were compromised between February 22, 2024 and March 19, 2024, allowing unauthorized access to emails and attachments containing sensitive information.

The company identified the security incident on February 26, 2024, and immediately secured the affected accounts while engaging third-party cybersecurity experts to conduct a thorough investigation. After a comprehensive review of the compromised files, which was completed on September 13, 2024, RMS began the process of identifying and notifying affected individuals.

On November 11, 2024, Radiologic Medical Services sent out personalized data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach, detailing the specific types of personal data that may have been compromised in their individual cases.
