November 11 – The Orthopedics Rhode Island, Inc. (“Ortho RI”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Ortho Rhode Island data breach resulted in the names, addresses, dates of birth, billing and claims information, health insurance claims information, and medical information including diagnoses, medications, test results, x-ray images and other treatment information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, Ortho Rhode Island reported a data breach after detecting unauthorized access to their computer network. The investigation revealed that an unknown party had gained access to their systems between September 4, 2024, and September 8, 2024, compromising confidential patient records.
On November 6, 2024, Ortho Rhode Island officially reported the incident and began the process of notifying affected individuals about the breach of their personal and medical information.
