November 22 – The Members Trust Company data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Members Trust Company data breach resulted in the names, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, financial account numbers, Social Security numbers, credit or debit card numbers, passport numbers, and medical information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 11,854 individuals.
According to the Maine Attorney General’s office, Members Trust Company experienced unauthorized access to multiple employee email accounts between September 1, 2023, and October 17, 2023. The company discovered the data breach on October 16, 2023, and immediately launched an investigation with cybersecurity experts to secure their systems. Members Trust Company reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. The process was completed on January 30, 2024. On November 19, 2024, Members Trust Company sent out data breach letters to all affected individuals, detailing the specific information that may have been compromised in this incident.
