February 27 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the medQ data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. It is believed to have impacted as many as 54,353 individuals. The medQ, Inc. data breach resulted in the below information of certain individuals being compromised:

  • names,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • driver’s license numbers,
  • dates of birth,
  • health information,
  • diagnoses,
  • lab results,
  • medications,
  • treatment information,
  • health insurance and claims information

What Happened?

According to the Attorney General of Maine, the medQ data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On December 26, 2023, the company learned that an unauthorized party encrypted software used by medQ and hosted by a third-party data center. medQ disconnected its network and launched an investigation that confirmed that files from the medQ platform were accessed by an unauthorized party between December 20, 2023 and December 26, 2023. It was later determined that some of these files contained confidential consumer information. On February 23, 2024, medQ sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
