LiUNA Data Breach Investigation

April 4 – The Laborers’ International Union of North America Local 1184 (“LiUNA”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The LiUNA data breach resulted in the exposure of names, Social Security numbers, membership numbers, telephone numbers, home addresses, email addresses, and work dispatch records of certain individuals being compromised.

What Happened As A Result Of The LiUNA Data Breach?

According to the California Attorney General’s office, LiUNA reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent ransomware attack. The security incident began on November 17, 2024, when unauthorized actors infiltrated LiUNA’s IT network and deployed ransomware across their systems.

While the organization was able to regain control of their network by the following day, November 18, 2024, the brief window of access was sufficient for the attackers to access sensitive data stored within LiUNA’s systems. The compromised information included confidential personal details of current and former union members, individuals represented by the union, and LiUNA employees.

Following the incident, LiUNA conducted a thorough review of the affected systems to identify the specific information that was potentially accessed and the individuals whose data may have been compromised. This investigation confirmed that various categories of sensitive personal information were exposed during the breach.

On March 31, 2025, Laborers’ International Union of North America Local 1184 sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach, providing details about the specific types of personal data that may have been compromised in each case.
