Laboratory Services Cooperative Data Breach Investigation

April 11 – The Laboratory Services Cooperative data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Laboratory Services Cooperative data breach resulted in the exposure of sensitive personal and medical information of certain individuals being compromised. It is believed to have impacted as many as 1.6 million Planned Parenthood patients.

What Happened As A Result Of The Laboratory Services Cooperative Data Breach?

According to the Maine Attorney General’s website, Laboratory Services Cooperative reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The incident began on October 27, 2024, when LSC detected unusual activity within its computer network. The organization immediately responded by bringing in external cybersecurity experts to investigate the suspicious activity.

Through this investigation, LSC confirmed that an unauthorized party had gained access to their systems and was able to access and potentially acquire certain files on their network. By February 2025, Laboratory Services Cooperative determined that some of the compromised files contained confidential patient information from Planned Parenthood facilities, as well as employee and dependent data.

After discovering the exposure of sensitive data, Laboratory Services Cooperative conducted a comprehensive review of the affected files to identify exactly what information was compromised and which individuals were impacted. The compromised information varies by individual but may include full names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, dates of birth, medical information, health insurance details, and financial account information.

It’s important to note that the breach did not affect every Planned Parenthood location nationwide, but rather those served by Laboratory Services Cooperative across their 31-state service area. On April 10, 2025, Laboratory Services Cooperative sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
