On September 5, 2023, the company discovered that an unauthorized party gained access to certain company email accounts prompting Kovack Financial to secure its email systems and launch an investigation.
It was confirmed that a third-party vendor was subject to a cyber security issue that impacted personal information belonging to Kovack Financial clients. On June 10, 2024, Kovack Financial confirmed that emails were viewed by an unauthorized party between August 15, 2023 and September 5, 2023. On July 9, 2024, Kovack Financial sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
