February 12 – The KeyBank data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company’s third-party vendor, Wong Fleming, P.C., was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The KeyBank data breach resulted in unauthorized access to sensitive customer information, including names, addresses, birthdates, Social Security numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, driver’s license numbers, and account numbers of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the filing with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office, KeyBank reported a data breach after their vendor, Wong Fleming, P.C., experienced unauthorized remote access to their network. On January 16, 2025, Wong Fleming, which provides asset recovery services for KeyBank, discovered and reported the security incident. While KeyBank’s systems were not directly affected, the breach at Wong Fleming exposed files containing confidential KeyBank customer information.
On February 11, 2025, KeyBank sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach. These notifications detail the specific types of personal information that may have been compromised in each case.
KeyBank operates as a major regional financial institution under its parent company KeyCorp. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, the bank maintains a significant presence across the United States through its extensive branch network and digital banking infrastructure. KeyBank employs 17,000 people and reports annual revenue of $6 billion. Their vendor in this incident, Wong Fleming, P.C., is a Princeton, New Jersey-based law firm specializing in asset recovery and corporate legal services, with approximately 100 employees and annual revenue of $24 million.
