November 15 – The Houston Housing Authority data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Houston Housing Authority data breach resulted in the names, Social Security numbers, addresses, dates of birth, and driver’s license numbers of certain individuals being compromised.

What Happened As A Result Of The Houston Housing Authority Data Breach?

According to documentation filed with the Texas Attorney General’s office, the Houston Housing Authority fell victim to a ransomware attack on September 21, 2024. While the organization initially believed their firewall had successfully thwarted the attack, subsequent investigation by the Department of Homeland Security on October 24 revealed ransomware malware on one of their systems. The situation escalated when hackers announced they had obtained approximately 38 gigabytes of data from HHA’s systems.

On November 15, 2024, HHA officially filed notice of the data breach with the Texas Attorney General’s office, initiating the process of notifying affected individuals about the extent of their compromised personal information. These notifications will detail the specific data that may have been exposed in each case.
