According to the Attorney General of Maine, the HopSkipDrive data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On July 25, 2023, HopSkipDrive got an anonymous email claiming that an unauthorized actor had accessed a third-party application used by the company. This prompted the company to launch an investigation that confirmed that an unauthorized actor was able to access information that had been provided to the company between May 31, 2023 and June 10, 2023. On February 6, 2024, HopSkipDrive sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
