On June 27, 2024, the company determined that an unauthorized actor attempted to file unauthorized tax returns on behalf of certain customers prompting Heier Weisbrot & Bernstein to report the incident to the IRS. The company launched an investigation that confirmed that an unauthorized actor accessed the company’s tax software between June 22 and June 26, 2024. Heier Weisbrot & Bernstein reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. On August 7, 2024, Heier Weisbrot & Bernstein sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
