January 10 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the Gerber Life Insurance data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Gerber Life Insurance data breach resulted in unauthorized party gaining access to consumers’ names, addresses, policy numbers and account payment information.
According to the Attorney General of Massachusetts, Gerber Life Insurance reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On December 5, 2024, Gerber Life discovered that an unauthorized party had gained access to certain call center systems used to assist customers. In response, the company immediately terminated the unauthorized access and initiated an investigation to assess the scope of the breach and determine whether any consumer information had been compromised. By December 11, 2024, the investigation revealed that the unauthorized party had accessed details related to specific policies and policyholders.
Upon confirming that sensitive consumer data had been exposed, Gerber Life conducted a thorough review of the affected files to identify the leaked information and determine which individuals were impacted.
On January 8, 2025, Gerber Life Insurance sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
