On April 15, 2024, the company detected suspicious activity within its computer network prompting GMA to secure its system and launch an investigation. It was confirmed that an unauthorized party accessed its computer network between April 5, 2024, and April 15, 2024 and copied patient data from its system. Internal Medicine Associates reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. On August 7, 2024, Gastrointestinal Medicine Associates sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
