October 16 – The Fitzgerald, DePietro & Wojnas CPAs, P.C. (“FDW”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The FDW data breach resulted in the names, dates of birth, marital status, Social Security numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, and financial information of certain individuals being compromised.

What Happened As A Result Of The Fitzgerald, DePietro & Wojnas CPAs Data Breach?

According to the notice filed with the Montana Attorney General, FDW reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyberattack. On June 19, 2024, FDW discovered that an unauthorized party had gained access to its network and deployed malicious code to encrypt company files. While FDW was able to contain the incident, the subsequent investigation revealed that the attackers accessed tax documents and other files with clients’ personal information before the encryption. On September 26, 2024, FDW sent out data breach notification letters to those whose information was impacted by the breach.
