September 11 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the EngageMED data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The EngageMED data breach resulted in the below information of certain individuals being compromised:

  • names,
  • addresses,
  • dates of birth,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • medical information,
  • health insurance information,
  • and claim information

What Happened?

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights, the EngageMED data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On July 3, 2024, the company identified suspicious activity within its computer network prompting EngageMED to secure its systems and launch an investigation. It was confirmed that an unauthorized actor accessed portions of its IT network between June 12, 2024 and July 3, 2024, including files containing patient information. EngageMED reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. On August 30, 2024, EngageMED sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
