The EncompassCare data breach resulted in the names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, medical information, and health insurance information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to the Attorney General of Massachusetts, EncompassCare reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On October 4, 2024, EncompassCare detected unusual activity on its management company’s network. An internal investigation was launched, followed by third-party cybersecurity experts.
The investigation revealed that unauthorized access to the network occurred on September 17, 2024, during which hackers potentially accessed confidential consumer data. EncompassCare completed a review of the affected files by November 19, 2024, to identify impacted consumers.
On January 9, 2025, EncompassCare sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
