November 1 – The United Medical Centers (“UMC”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The United Medical Centers data breach resulted in the names, dates of birth, mailing addresses, Social Security numbers, diagnosis and treatment information, and health insurance information of certain individuals being compromised.
According to a notice posted on their website, United Medical Centers reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On July 26, 2023, UMC detected suspicious activity within its computer network. The company launched an investigation that confirmed that an unauthorized party accessed or removed some files from its computer systems. It was later determined that some of the files that were accessible to the unauthorized party contained confidential patient information. On October 27, 2023, United Medical Centers sent out data breach letters 
to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
United Medical Centers is a healthcare services provider headquartered in Del Rio, Texas that operates nine locations, which provide a range of services. These include pediatric, OB/GYN, ENT, family medicine, internal medicine, podiatry and dental services. In addition, UMC locations offer in-house services such as laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, social services, family planning, and WIC. UMC serves residents of Eagle Pass, Del Rio, Brackettville and the surrounding areas, including Kinney, Maverick and Val Verde counties.
