October 29 – The CUSO Financial Services, LP (“CUSO”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. According to the report filed with the Maine Attorney General’s office, CUSO Financial Services discovered unauthorized access to their systems through a compromised employee account. The data breach originated with a third-party service provider that CUSO uses for archiving communications – a service required under FINRA regulations. CUSO Financial Services launched an investigation immediately upon detecting suspicious activity on January 19, 2024. It was revealed that unauthorized access occurred between December 19, 2023, and January 19, 2024. After a thorough review process, the company began notifying affected individuals on October 28, 2024, through personalized data breach notification letters.
