March 6 – The CrossCheck data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the data breach that was reported after CrossCheck was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The CrossCheck data breach resulted in the sensitive information of AutoNation customers being compromised.

What Happened As A Result Of The CrossCheck Data Breach?

Data Breach AlertAccording to the Attorney General of Vermont, CrossCheck reported a data breach after they were targeted in a recent cybersecurity attack. On May 30, 2024, CrossCheck detected unusual activity in its merchant portal and immediately launched an investigation. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor accessed the portal between May 18 and May 20, 2024, gaining access to confidential consumer information.

After identifying the breach, CrossCheck conducted a thorough review to determine what data was compromised and which individuals were affected. This process was completed on September 25, 2024, after which the company collaborated with AutoNation to obtain contact information for impacted individuals.

On March 4, 2025, CrossCheck sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
