This security incident resulted in unauthorized access to sensitive job applicant information, including names, Social Security numbers, and driver’s license numbers.
According to the filing with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office, BackChecked, LLC, a vendor utilized by CIC, experienced a cybersecurity attack that compromised their computer network. On September 26, 2024, an unauthorized party gained access to confidential files containing job applicant information. BackChecked discovered and halted the unauthorized access, subsequently notifying CIC of the incident on October 29, 2024. On November 22, 2024, CIC began issuing data breach notification letters to affected individuals, detailing the scope and nature of their compromised information.
