October 15 – The Community HousingWorks data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company discovered unauthorized access to various company email accounts. The Community HousingWorks data breach resulted in the names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, and credit/debit card numbers of certain individuals being compromised. The number of affected individuals has not been disclosed.

What Happened As A Result Of The Community HousingWorks Data Breach?

According to CHW’s filing with the Attorney General of Montana, Community HousingWorks reported a data breach after they became aware of suspicious activity within certain company email accounts on December 22, 2023. The investigation, conducted with the help of third-party cybersecurity experts, confirmed that an unauthorized actor gained access to the email accounts of certain CHW employees, including emails and attachments containing confidential information belonging to various individuals.

On October 7, 2024, Community HousingWorks sent out data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the email account compromise.
