February 27 – The Christensen Group Insurance data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Christensen Group Insurance data breach resulted in the unauthorized access to names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, financial account information, email addresses & passwords, and driver’s license numbers of certain individuals being compromised. The total number of affected individuals has not yet been publicly disclosed.
According to the notice posted on their website, Christensen Group Insurance reported a data breach after they were targeted in a cyber security attack that compromised an employee’s email account, resulting in a spam campaign. The breach itself actually occurred in 2022, but was only recently disclosed publicly.
The timeline of events shows that between October 10, 2022 and October 17, 2022, an unauthorized party gained access to and viewed emails contained in a CGI employee’s account. Upon discovering suspicious activity, the company engaged third-party data security experts to investigate the incident. On January 24, 2023, Christensen Group Insurance’s investigation confirmed the unauthorized access.
Following the completion of their investigation, Christensen Group Insurance conducted a review of the compromised files to identify affected individuals and determine what specific information was exposed. On February 24, 2025, more than two years after discovering the breach, Christensen Group Insurance sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach. These notification letters should provide recipients with specific details about what personal information of theirs was compromised in the incident.
