February 23 – The data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C. are investigating the Change Healthcare data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The Change Healthcare data breach may have resulted in the sensitive information of certain individuals being compromised.

What Happened?

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Change Healthcare data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On February 21, 2024, the company determined that an unauthorized party had gained access to portions of the company’s IT network. Change Healthcare secured the impacted systems and launched an investigation that is ongoing. UnitedHealth Group, Change Healthcare’s parent company, explained that it believes the incident was limited to Change Healthcare’s systems and did not impact other Optum or UnitedHealth Group systems. If Change Healthcare determines that consumer data was compromised they will be required to send out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
