October 30 – The BrightStar Care (“BrightStar”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. According to a report filed with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office, BrightStar Care discovered suspicious activity within an employee’s email account that prompted an investigation. The company’s cybersecurity team, along with third-party experts, confirmed unauthorized access to the account occurred during a two-day period between May 15 and May 16, 2024. On October 28, 2024, BrightStar Care began sending out data breach notification letters to all affected individuals. While the specifics of the compromised data are not outlined in the public filing, individual notification letters contain detailed information about the particular data elements that may have been exposed for each recipient.
