What Happened?

According to the Attorney General of California, the Avis Rent A Car data breach was reported after they were targeted in a recent cyber security attack. On August 5, 2024, the company learned that an unauthorized party accessed parts of the company’s computer network prompting Avis to terminate all unauthorized access and launch an investigation. It was confirmed that the unauthorized party accessed portions of its network between August 3, 2024 and August 6, 2024. Avis Rent A Car reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. On September 4, 2024, Avis Rent A Car sent out data breach letters to those individuals whose information was affected by the breach.
