December 10 – The ABC Legal Services, Inc. (“ABC Legal”) data breach lawyers at Console & Associates, P.C are investigating the data breach that was reported after the company was targeted in a recent cyber security attack. The ABC Legal Services data breach resulted in the unauthorized access and removal of files containing confidential information from the company’s network. While the specific types of compromised data remain redacted in public notices, the company has confirmed that Social Security numbers were among the potentially impacted information.
According to a report filed with the Maine Attorney General’s office, ABC Legal Services reported a data breach following suspicious activity detected within their computer network on August 7, 2024. The company took immediate action to secure their systems and engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized party had accessed and removed sensitive files from their network, though the incident was successfully contained by August 8, 2024.
Following a comprehensive review of the compromised files, completed on November 11, 2024, ABC Legal Services identified the individuals whose information was affected. On December 6, 2024, ABC Legal Services sent out data breach letters to all impacted individuals. The company is offering complimentary credit monitoring services to those whose Social Security numbers were potentially exposed in the breach.
